<p data-start="1783" data-end="2075">Η κανέλα ήταν τόσο πολύτιμη στην αρχαιότητα, ώστε θεωρούνταν <strong data-start="1844" data-end="1867">δώρο για βασιλιάδες</strong>, <strong data-start="1869" data-end="1898">ιερή προσφορά στους ναούς</strong>, ακόμη και <strong data-start="1910" data-end="1930">νόμισμα εμπορίου</strong>. Οι αρχαίοι Αιγύπτιοι τη χρησιμοποιούσαν στην ταρίχευση, οι Έλληνες και οι Ρωμαίοι στη φαρμακευτική τους, ενώ το Μεσαίωνα έγινε σύμβολο πλούτου.</p>
